January '08 - South America: Puerto Montt, Chile

One of the most unique evergreen trees I've ever seen. It looked kind of like a spruce but less dense. During our trip, we saw many variations of plants and animals that reminded me of ones common in the US. This was but one example. The varieties or perhaps even species helped me to understand why Charles Darwin so treasured his South American travels on the Beagle for developing his theory documented in his ultimate writing!
