UpJanuary '08 - South America: Ushuaia, Argentina PrevNextSlideshow

These are the two signs at the beginning of the path out to the dock.   The sign on the left reminds us we're in the TIerra del Fuego National Park at Lapataia Bay in the Republic of Argentina.   The sign on the rights tells us we're in the Province of Tierra del Fuego, Antarctica and Islands of the South Atlantic and then something about the National Director of the 24th District.

The sign on the right also tells us we are at the end of Argentine Route 3.   Route 3 runs from Buenos Aires to here.   It is the southern end of the Pan American Highway which begins in Alaska!   As the sign on the left says, we're 3,063Km (~1900 Miles) from Buenos Aires and 17,848Km (~11,100 Miles) from the other end of the highway up in Alaska.
