| Sunday, December 23, 2007 Punta del Este was the first of our three "tender" ports, thus, this album contains quite a few photos of the process of boarding a tender. The Insignia was anchored within easy sight of the seaside resort town, however, the dock wasn't large enough for a ship that size. In fact, there were two other large cruise ships anchored as well. For this port, none of the tours were appealing so we chose to go into town and wander around. It turned out Punta del Este is situated on a mostly rocky little peninsula that sticks out from the southeast point of Uruguay. The Rio de la Plata is on one side and the Atlantic Ocean is on the other. Walking across the peninsula and around the point was an easy trek. NOTE: Double click on an image to enlarge it.
