UpDecember 2007: Iguazu Falls, Argentina PrevNextSlideshow

A clearer look at another section. This is the last pic before we go in for "the soaking"! TIme to put the cameras in the rubber baggie with the shoes and other stuff.

Extracted from Wikipedia:    The Iguazu falls system consists of 275 falls along 1.67 miles of the Iguazu River. Some of the individual falls are up to 269 feet in height, though the majority are about 210 feet. The Garganta del Diablo or Devil's Throat, a U-shaped 490' wide and 2300' long cliff marks the border between Argentina and Brazil. Two thirds of the falls are within Argentine territory. About one third of the 1.67 mile length of the falls does not have water flowing over it. The edge of the basalt cap recedes just over one tenth of an inch per year.
