| From our boat's docking point, looking toward downtown Rotterdam, one can see it is sometimes referred to as "The Manhatten of the Meuse" (Manhatten aan de Maas) because of the tall buildings in the skyline. We learned Rotterdam is the industrial heart of the Netherlands and one of the busiest ports in the world. A note for big ship cruise fans: It was the original headquarters of Holland America Lines. |
