Heidelberg is on the Neckar River rather than the Rhine.  Our boat docked in Mannheim and a tour bus took us to Heidelberg.  We first went to the castle (Schloss) high on the hill above town.  After the castle tour, we went back down into town for a walking tour followed by some free time.
